Annprashan(starting ann)

When the baby is between 5-6 month then there is a function in which baby takes ann for the first time .In this function according to the custom that we keep lots of different article in front of baby which represent different career paths (like books,ball,pen etc).Whichever article baby picks up indicate the career he will take later when he grows up .So for this lots of traditional dishes are prepared so that Akshaj has lots of option to choose from ...rice ,kadhi,khadi daal(in which all unbroken daals are taken),kheer ,halwa,vada,pooye,bhindi,raita.Akshaj's one of dada-dadi also came that day out of nowhere (can't just trust mama-papa with pooja).Akshaj was a perfect boy that day .Somehow he got a hint that everybody is busy preparing food for him so that day he got up played for a while and drank milk and slept again that too on his own..didn't cry even once during the whole process!!!.When the pooja started he took active part in it as well ..saw everything that was going on.


After the pooja all the delicacies were put in front of Akshaj .He was left in middle so that whichever he touches will be give first .But there was lots of confusion on what he touched first ...finally we gave him all items one by one to taste and we all waited to see his reaction.He lived up to the family tradition and gulped on (by his standards) on kheer and halwa but made the worst possible face for daal.After all the pet pooja it was now turn for choosing the career path ...so all the items book,pen,racquet's,colors ,scissors etc were placed before his..His papa Puneet wanted so much that he picks something related to sports (which is a misnomer for cricket in India)Finally Akshaj was set free to chose his destiny ...and after touching lots of things he finally settled for a C++ book and kept on tapping on the book to hold it much to the disappointment of Puneet.Now as any Indian who believes in rigging things ,Puneet brought racket (there was no bat ball in house for option)in front of Akshaj.Like a obedient child Akshaj left his much loved book and held on the racket to please his father.His papa was one happy man then!!
