Happy Birthday 6

Dear Akshaj,

Almost half year after your birthday updating the blog.This year  I have been amazed by how you are able to understand things more clearly and can express you thoughts very well.You can site examples ,give references ,remember some thing and relate to present to get across your points to me.Whenever you do that I really have to wonder there was a time we had to take you to speech therapy to utter a single word.Also now you can read almost any word in english and understand all stories very well.Even the way you can read hindi is amazing.You started Hindi in school this year, and are still learning Hindi alphabets but you are picking it very well.You can even read hindi books with matras with very little help.

You became a big boy and stated going to big school.You have adjusted and made new friends.And cartoons have become your life now.You are seeing or talking about them all the time :-)

But still you keep us little worried with your eye sight problem.Your eye power increased to almost double in 3 months.lets hope this trend doesnt continue.

Again this year although trying very earnestly still ended up with 3 parties ..one kids ,one adults and one pooja birthday which made you so very happy ...

Home made superman T-shirt -things we do to make our kids happy

Last year on his annual day Akshaj wore a plain blue t-shirt it didn't have any print on it.So as kids are these days he just refusedd to wear that T-shirt because it didnn't have any print on it.One day I made him wear anyway promising that if he wears it I will make something on the T-Shirt.The moment I said I knew I was in trouble and it started.He started giving me all the cartoon makes which I can make chota bheem,car,super man etc etc ....it went on and finally we settled for superman logo,but that was not the full deal...
then he started "mama why dont' u also make that long long back thing which superman has in the back" ....poor me I tried to play around that making logo only was enough but no .....the boy put his foot down...so the deal was stuck- superman with the logo.

And then the tracking started ...

Akshaj :mama why don't u start now ...
Me: I told no you are wearing it no so it has to be washed and then I will make
 Akshaj: (took out the T-shirt) "take mama put in washing then tomorrow you can make it"...
Me:No clothes are there in washing machine ...I will do tomorrow
The day ended peacefully

Next day morning
Akshaj: Mama today u definaly have to make my T-shirt
Me: Yeah

After coming back from school

Akshaj:did  u put it for washing
ME :yes
then till night he was asking T-shirt has dried or not

The day after
Akshaj:Mama to day u bring the colours and paint it OK
Me: OK
I had only 3 hours in which I had to finish the task ..bring the colors and paint and make the cape

the clock was running fast..I don't think I would have executed anything so quickly
but I could do it ...and this was the final result

Happy Birthday 5

This year as Akshaj turned 5,i could just see how much he has grown in one year.He clearly knew what all he wanted on his birthday,so the task was set out ahead.I was thinking this year I will do it at home and call few building friends,but little did I knew Akshaj had other plans.First rather that just building friends, he wanted his school and van friends also.He gave me all the names which he wanted to call.Then he told birthday will not be in house, it will be in the party hall.To my surprize he was very forgiving also as when I told can't call one of  his van friend as I don't know his number..he just said 'its OK mama".Since his birthday was on Friday we planned the party on Saturday and i told him also the same.So whoever was calling on his birthday he was himself inviting everyone and explaining .."Birthday is on Friday but party is on Saturday so come on Saturday."

As every year there are 3 celebrations for him...one for school,one party and one star birthday.

As he is learning the concept that night 12'o clock the next day starts..so he refused to sleep till 12 o'clock happens...so first cake cutting

 This year I made a angry bird black forest cake for his school...

For party he wanted a car cake ...a 5 year old's life revolve around cartoons only so as ordered a car cake

First time staying away ....

Since Akshaj sticks to me like fevicol ,I always used to wonder how he will be if I leave him and go for 1-2 days somewhere.....but since there was no such need for it and considering how much drama he creates even if I go out for 1-2 hours somewhere without him I never expected that he will take it very well....

But last month need did arise when I had dengue and had to be hospitalized for some time. At first when doctor told it might be viral fever and I was at home, doctor told to maintain distance especially from Akshaj. But to do that turned out to  be tough task. He will very sweetly come and sit next to me and say "Mama you are alone na ..I will sit with you". If I lock the door for some rest he will bang till I not open saying "mama you are in right side no...I will be in left side I will not come near you.. open the door...


So when we heard of hospitalization we were really worried how Akshaj will take it.And surprize surprize he took it quite well...he didn't cry and understood why I need to be in hospital. He would come and visit me everyday and would like to stay with me for night but he didn't press for it and in the end go back home. Sweetest thing was when he would go he would say 'mama don't be sad .OK. See TV".

Funny thing was whoever was calling me were  very worried about how Akshaj is taking it..they will ask about me but they really wanted to know how Akshaj is handling it ...what they didn't know he was making his grandparents run around his not so little finger all the time so much that he even made his grandma do his homework one day :-)

My dengue experience: As my doctor would say we dengue sucks the energy out of you ..I found it to be so true. First day when I got fever I suspected dengue because a day before I had gone to park and there were lots of mosqitos...so we went to hospital but doctor told it will be viral fever only ..he did platelet count which was fine ..but the fever persisted and I was feeling very week...next time when we went my hands were itching a lot and then he said this is a sign of dengue ...there is lot of itching in dengue and since I was feeling very low energy he told to get admitted for glucose drip and some tests. The day I got admitted I didn't have any fever only itching but I was feeling very week....then I stayed for 3-4 days in hospital I didn't get fever .Some things which I didn't knew about dengue were.
1.dengue continued without fever also
2.there is so much itching that you can't even sleep
3.that dengue culture report takes 2 days ,that is only in 2 days you can confirm if dengue is there or not.
4.the weakness goes on for a long time..my platelet count was not very less..infact even when it became less it was still in lacks still I felt very week
5.you need to take lots and lots of liquids...that is the only cure for it apart from fever medicine...maybe because I was not taking liquids I was hospitalized otherwise in my case maybe there would have been no need.

Attempts at mother's day card

These days whenever any occasion is coming I feed my son to make a card for it ...so same I did for Mother's day .I kept telling him mother's day is on 12th so did you make a card for me ...so when it was 11th he remembered  "Oh..mother's day going to come I didn't make a card for you".Luckily that day we had gone out and bought a set of paint and drawing book for him.So when 12th  came he sat down with his set of colours and worked for an hour to try making card for me ..and these are some attempts..

He asked me spelling of "vandana"and then tried writing it...

Finally I wrote and made some drawing and he colored

Then he asked can he make a hand print card..and he did

This one is with crayons...he was asking spellings and writing on card.. since he was doing his work little far from me, by  the time he would  come and go back he would forgot the spelling.Finally other's he managed  but forget "mother" spelling and wrote MDR for mother

When I asked what is MDR.. he said " Mama, 'MDR' is your gift . Now where is my return gift.Since he actually made my day with so many cards I happily scummed to his demands :-)

He really made my day...I was so happy specially since he hardly sits for anything but for this he was sitting and trying again and again to make a perfect card for me :-))

First Annual Day

This was the first time Akshaj took part in the annual day.
Since he hardly tells what happens in school so I didn't know what he was going to do there.
One day in his bag I saw a one line dialogue and talked to his teacher then I came to know he is a robber and he has to speak a line in the play..
Finally the D day arrived and we were all prepared for one dialogue scene of his..but we were for a pleasant surprise when we saw that he was in so many things.The school had organised it so well.Starting with the slokas with all students ,dance,yoga,kinderdance and each student coming and introducing themselves and Akshaj did everything so well.Never in my dreams I thought he would do so many things ,him being so shy and all,but we were all for real treat.
