A Birthday and a cake !!

It was my birthday yesterday...and I decided to make the birthday cake myself...and after incredible amount of net surfing (mainly blog surfing) ...I finally decided what I wanted for my birthday --a chocolate ganache cake.I have made cakes some 2-3 times earlier but every time I made those in exceptional hurry and when I make it(in 1 hr) and in half hour it is cut also ...But this time I wanted to make it more properly ..so decided to start a little early.More than ingredients what was very important was that Akshaj should not be in the house (and I could do without P too).So P, Akki and his dadu were ordered out of the house and I have next 2-2.5 hours for my cake. And this is how cake finally turned out ...


After baking the cake I made home made marzipan (for animals) and piping gel for writing on the cake.I could only find 3 food colors in Bangalore and so I made bear/cat/bird/duck and some grass with them.P was already smuggling my marzipan paste behind my back and shamefully telling me how good it tastes.(I told u I wanted him to be not in the house)

Like father like son,Akshaj was also busy licking away the cake with his figure(right bottom)while we were clicking traditional birthday snaps ..


Everybody loved the cake ..but was was best of it all that Akshaj was actually kissing instead of eating the bird/duck/bear/cat I made...

Just a perfect birthday gift !!

P.S The writing on the cake was done by P as he thought it does not feel right if I write my happy Birthday myself :-) (thank god for him..I would have messed up the writing completely)

Speech Therapy

That's what Akshaj is going to these days

Since he was premature he went to some mandatory tests after his one year. Like going to a child development expert.P and and I didn't like the expert one bit.For one she looked so bored that we couldn't understand how she became a child development expert.She was continuously yawning and kept talking to her maid to what to cook for dinner while we waited for her..Anyway ,she had a questionnaire with her by which she gauged Akshaj's development .And according to her results he was a little behind in speech department, rest everything was OK.She asked us to do a BERA test(this test is done to check child's hearing) and come back with the report so that she will do one more test with him.In that she would have given him some toys and seen his reaction and then would have come out with the report.But as we didn't like her much we did the BERA test and went to Akshaj's pediatrician.He suggested to go to a speech therapy as there was nothing wrong with Akshaj ears so he should have started speaking by now.

So after thinking about it we did went to Speech therapist.She asked us random questions about how he is doing,how much he is speaking,kind of sounds he make etc.What was so good about her that whatever she said about Akshaj was actually quite true and made sense.We have heard from many parents that their kids started speaking after they turned 2.We asked her the same thing and she said that its possible that he will start speaking but otherwise might also be true.And if delayed it might be more difficult for him to speak.One thing which she said and its so totally true in his case was the fact that he is a very active kid.He has very waving attention span and like to move on from one activity to other.Since all the time he is so involved in doing something that he does not even listen what we are saying.And if he is not listing anything how will he learn !!

Its been a month already for him..we go twice a week 45 min session.We are still very mixed on if he is progressing or not.

But Akshaj is having a ball..all he has to do is to play with toys and fight with his trainer.For eg :For anything Akshaj wants us to open he will come and say 'on' (picked up when we say to switch 'on' the fan).That's just stuck with him.So its quite sight to see 2 of them fighting when she asks him to say 'Open' something but inturn he says 'on'..So they literally go like 'on'-'open'-'on'-'open' when finally she has to give in and 'on' a box..

Yeah that's my brat for sure !!
